Lane Tech High School Fails Health Inspection
The inspector found "heavy dust," holes in the walls, clogged sinks and places where rodents could enter the school.

Patch examined inspection reports in North Center. Information has been compiled using publicly available data published to the website of the Chicago Department of Public Health's Food Protection Program.
Restaurants and businesses can pass, pass with conditions or fail using a standardized procedure. Establishments that pass don't have any critical or serious violations. Those that receive 'pass with conditions' had serious violations, but the violations were corrected during the inspection. Failed establishments had serious violations that weren't correctable during the inspection. A fail rating does not mean the business's license is automatically suspended.
All inspections are done on a routine canvass, unless otherwise noted.

City health inspectors headed over to Lane Tech High School for a routine visit and apparently didn’t like what they found. According to their written report, the school needs to scrape the peeling paint from the ceiling above the kitchen sink, fix the damaged walls in the walk-in coolers and clean vents covered in “heavy dust.”

That’s combined with “big hole” found under one of the men’s toilets, peeling paint above many washroom sinks and another “big hole” in the tile in the boys bathroom.
Multiple violations were noted regarding slow draining or clogged sinks, as well as inspectors noticing dirty shelves near the food serving line and milk crates being used as pallets in the storage room.
Lastly, inspectors found multiple gaps in doors leading to the outside that were apparently big enough for rodents and bugs to squeeze through. They instructed school officials to “rodent/insect proof the doors.” A serious citation was issued, leading to the high school’s failure.
