Little Threads Secures Spot in Roscoe Village (PHOTOS)

The local children's store has a following most small retailers would kill for, and they're using it to give back to the community.

After eight years in Roscoe Village, it’s clear Little Threads still has what it takes.

“Small Business Saturday was okay, but Black Friday – it was just crazy,” said employee Jennifer Steinhagen. “There were two of us here working, and we were dead by the end of the day. It was huge for us.”

According to Steinhagen, more than 75 percent of Black Friday customers were regulars. It’s that kind of cult following that’s kept the children’s apparel and gift shop at 2033 W. Roscoe St. alive for nearly a decade in the heart of Roscoe Village.

Between the store hosting Santa Claus every winter to it’s free story time every Monday, Little Threads is making a name for itself in the neighborhood.

“Every Monday is story time, and Nili Yelin can somehow hold the attention of these kids for a half hour,” Steinhagen laughed. “This week, the writer was actually local. Amy Krouse Rosenthal's (book was read) here this morning.”
