1 More Step for Mariano's: Council Votes Today
Ald. Ameya Pawar announced Thursday that the Ravenswood Station project, which includes a Mariano's Fresh Market and L.A. Fitness, passed the City Council's Committee on Zoning.

One vote separates North Center residents from another Mariano's Fresh Market.
On Oct. 31, City Council members will vote on the project, which passed through the Committee on Zoning Oct. 25.
The market will be located at Lawrence and Ravenswood avenues next to the Ravenswood Metra Station and Sears. The other Mariano's location is at 3350 North Western Avenue.

Ward 47 Alderman Ameya Pawar is optimistic about its passage at the council meeting.
If approved, construction would begin in November. An opening date will be announced when construction begins, Pawar told Patch in September.

“Now it looks like everything is moving smoothly. It’s going to happen,” he said.
Both Mariano’s and an L.A. Fitness exercise club have pre-leased the space.
Pawar said that area has been empty for the past 40 years. Each time developers wanted to build, the deal fell apart.
"This is a major development for our ward and my office has been working diligently over the past year on every phase of this project," Pawar said in an email announcement on Thursday. "I thank you all of you for being a part of this approval process and giving your feedback."
