Roscoe Village Chamber Seeks Help at Burger Fest
Officials are busy planning the annual event, which means snagging volunteers to help man the three beer tents and entrance gates.
In order to make the annual Roscoe Village Burger Fest a success, the Roscoe Village Chamber of Commerce is asking neighbors to come together and lend a hand this July.
The celebration at Belmont and Damen avenues runs July 13 and 14 from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., and the chamber is looking for volunteers to help staff its three beer tents and the festival's entrance gates.
Mary Markarin, the Roscoe Village Chamber’s executive director, sent out a notification to the organization’s newsletter subscribers Tuesday morning in hopes of revving up a solid group of volunteers.

“Roscoe Village will celebrate its 7th annual festival as it livens up Belmont Avenue,” Markarin said. “Roscoe Village Burger Fest will feature two days of non-stop music on two stages, and will feature tantalizing mouth watering burgers from fourteen of Chicago's finest restaurants. The Roscoe Village Chamber of Commerce invites you to celebrate with us and come on out and volunteer!”
Anyone interested can pick from various shifts that best suits their schedule. The first shift is 10:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m., followed by the second shift from 2:15-6 p.m., with the third shift running from 5:45-10 p.m.

Those willing to give back to the community by volunteering can email the chamber at info@rvcc.biz with their name, the day they’d like to help, email address, phone number and t-shirt size. Volunteers can even say if they’d prefer to work at the beer tents or entrance gates, and the chamber says they’ll try to accommodate everyone based on requests.
Headliners for the event have already been announced, with alternative rock band Sister Hazel joining the New Orleans-based rock band Cowboy Mouth. Sister Hazel describes itself as mixing folk rock, pop and southern rock to create some catchy melodies. Cowboy Mouth, on the other hand, is bringing more classic rock.
And the event is also slated to snag more burgers than ever before. Nearly 15 vendors are coming to Burger Fest including Butcher & The Burger, Hamburger Mary’s and 2012’s burger “Fave,” Wrigleyville’s Rockit Burger Bar.
The veteran venders will be pinned up against this year’s three new restuarants eyeing up the prize. Indie Burger, Etno Village Grill and Yoshi’s Café are headed to Roscoe Village in July in an attempt to steal the “Fave” status.
While the event suggests a donation of $7 at the gate, all the proceeds are benefitting the Roscoe Village Chamber of Commerce to make the village a better place to live. The event made possible with help from Chicago’s Special Events Management, the organization behind other area favorites like Roscoe Village’s Guinness Oyster Fest scheduled for Sept. 7.
In addition to the food and music at Burger Fest, the street festival also features arts and crafts, and a “Kids’ Zone” for children and families.
