2 Killed In I-57 Crashes Hours Apart ID'd: Medical Examiner

The crashes happened late Wednesday night and early Thursday morning on I-57 near 159th Street.

OAK FOREST, IL — Two people killed in separate crashes just hours apart on I-57 earlier this week have been identified, the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office said.

On Wednesday at 8:40 p.m., troopers were called to a two-vehicle crash on I-57 northbound, just south of 159th Street. The crash involved multiple injuries and at least one fatality, state police said.

Terry E. Felder, 18, died in the crash, the Cook County Medical Examiner's office said. His hometown is not known.

Hours later and early Thursday, state police responded to a three-vehicle crash on I-57 southbound, also at 159th Street. One fatality was reported, state police said.

The victim was identified as Mark D. McCoy, 43, of Matteson, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office.

The crashes remain under investigation by state police.
