Central Avenue Drenched In Green For Oak Forest Fleadh's Sweet 16
Oak Forest residents celebrated the 16th annual Oak Forest Fleadh Saturday, March 1.
OAK FOREST, IL — Hundreds bundled up and layered their green garb to line Central Avenue for the Oak Forest Fleadh parade Saturday.
Organized by the Oak Forest-Crestwood Area Chamber of Commerce in partnership with the City of Oak Forest, the Oak Forest Fleadh—a Gaelic term for a festival of Irish music, dancing, and culture—celebrated its "sweet 16" this year.
Cold but sunny, Irish eyes were smiling (and squinting) as the parade rolled from 151st to 155th and Central Avenue. Grand Marshal Gigi's Playhouse Tinley Park led the way for the parade's 50 entries.
