Crash That Injured Oak Forest Officer Was Intentional: Police
Oak Forest police said that Jerrold T. Gibbons, 56, crashed into an officer's car on purpose last Friday. The officer was hurt in the crash.

OAK FOREST, IL β The car crash that injured an on-duty Oak Forest police officer last Friday was intentional, and the man driving the car that hit him has been arrested and charged with aggravated battery, said Police Chief Timothy Kristin.
The officer, who was in uniform, was parked on the 15400 block of Ridgeland Avenue to work his regular shift running a stationary radar. According to police, just after 8:30 a.m. Friday, Jerrold T. Gibbons, 56, of the 15100 Block of Willow Lane, crashed into the officer's car head on. He was speeding.
Both men were injured. Authorities took both to local hospitals where they were treated and released.

Kristin said that detectives reviewed camera footage from the officer's vehicle and determined the crash was intentional.
Gibbons has been charged with one count of aggravated battery to police officer and aggravated speeding at more than 35 miles over the posted speed limit. At his hearing, Gibbons was released on a $25,000.00 personal recognizance bond.
