Domestic Battery Charge For Chicago Man, 24, After Foot Chase: OFPD

The incident happened on 159th Street late Tuesday afternoon. The man led police on a chase along 159th Street before being arrested.

OAK FOREST, IL — A 24-year-old Chicago man was arrested in Oak Forest Tuesday, after police said he fled on foot following a violent encounter with a woman in a parking lot.

Police say Cory Cheatham, 24, was seen in a heated argument with a woman in the parking lot of the former Food 4 Less, 5556 159th St.

Police on the scene just after 4 p.m. witnessed a woman with a bloody nose, who told police Cheatham had caused it and that she wanted to press charges.

Cheatham fled from police, leading officers on a chase along 159th Street before being apprehended.

Cheatham was taken to the hospital for unrelated medical needs, Police Chief Jason Reid said. On Wednesday, he was formally charged with aggravated domestic battery and resisting a peace officer. He was also arrested on an existing warrant for possession of controlled substance.

He appeared in Cook County Court Wednesday and was ordered detained.
