Good Samaritan Swam To Rescue Driver From Sinking Car: Oak Forest PD

A 56-year-old Oak Forest man has been charged with DUI and reckless driving after driving into Twin Lakes at Midlothian Reservoir.

OAK FOREST, IL — A passerby swam out to a sinking vehicle in an Oak Forest reservoir late Thursday night, rescuing the driver from inside and getting him to the shoreline, Oak Forest police said Friday morning.

The man was driving south on Cicero Avenue just before 9 p.m. when he left the road at 165th Street and drove into Twin Lakes at Midlothian Reservoir near 167th Street and Cicero Avenue, police said.

The driver, 56-year-old Leon Santor of Oak Forest, was treated on scene and taken to a nearby hospital for followup, police said.

Santor was later charged with one count of driving under the influence, and one count of reckless driving.
