Man, 62, Arrested After Groping Girl At Oak Forest Gas Station: Police

The Markham man was arrested at the scene of the Nov. 3 incident, police said Monday.

OAK FOREST, IL — A 62-year-old Markham man has been arrested and charged with aggravated criminal sexual abuse after an encounter with a young girl at a gas station, police said in a release Monday.

At 11:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 3, Oak Forest police officers responded to the BP gas station at 5548 W. 159th St. after receiving a report regarding a man inappropriately touching a juvenile female victim.

Police found a man—identified as Froylan Bahena-Vargas—hiding near the gas station’s dumpsters and took him into custody.

After a thorough investigation with assistance from the Markham Police Department, Oak Forest police charged Bahena-Vargas with one felony 2 count of aggravated criminal sexual abuse.

Bahena-Vargas appeared for his initial court hearing at the Bridgeview Courthouse on Thursday, Nov. 13. He was detained by the judge. His next court appearance is scheduled for Friday, Dec. 5.
