Oak Forest Man Shot In Chase With Car Burglary Suspects: PD
The incident happened Friday just before 2 a.m., police said.
OAK FOREST, IL — An Oak Forest man was hit by gunfire in a confrontation with car burglary suspects just before 2 a.m. Friday, police said.
Oak Forest Police responded to the 16900 block of Leclaire Avenue for a report of a burglary to a vehicle. A resident saw several unknown suspects near his property and neighboring properties while Oak Forest Police were responding to the area. The suspects fled, and the resident chased them, Oak Forest police said.
While he chased them, the resident and suspects exchanged gunfire, police said. The resident was struck twice by the gunfire; police said it is unknown if any of the fleeing subjects were struck by gunfire. The victim was taken to a local hospital, where he is in stable condition.

Oak Forest Police also learned that two dark-colored vehicles were seen leaving the area after the reports of the shots fired.
There is no continued threat to the community, Oak Forest police said.
