Passenger Picked Up With Pills in Oak Forest: Cops

A 45-year-old Crestwood man faces a possession of a controlled substance charge, according to police.

John E. Rusick, 45, of the 13600 block of Crestwood, was charge with possession of a controlled substance, according to a report.

Officers spotted a black BMW at about 8:16 p.m. make a left turn from 159th Street onto Latrobe Avenue without signaling, according to a report. Police stopped the car, and the driver reportedly tried to walk away from police. One officer was able to detain the driver while another cop noticed Rusick, the passenger in the front seat of the car, was sticking a piece of foil between the seat and the center console, the report states.

After talking with both men, police searched the BMW and found the foil package, the report states. Six yellow tablets were inside, which were later identified by a pharmacist as a generic form a Xanax.

Rusick claimed the package belonged to him, according to the report. He was taken to the Oak Forest Police Department for processing. That night, he started complaining about stomach issues and was transported to the South Suburban Hospital for treatment.

When Rusick was released from the hospital, officers returned him to a holding cell at the Oak Forest Police Department, where he stayed until he appearance at a Cook County bond hearing.
