Torrential Rain' Leads To Flood Advisory For Cook County: NWS

The National Weather Service said southeastern Cook County will be under a flood advisory until 3:45 p.m. Thursday.

COOK COUNTY, IL β€” The National Weather Service has issued a flood advisory for areas of southeastern Cook County until 3:45 p.m. Thursday afternoon, the agency announced.

A spokesperson from the service said a doppler radar predicted "torrential rain" from thunderstorms would be coming towards Tinley Park, Chicago Heights, Oak Forest, Homewood, Hazel Crest, Flossmoor and Glenwood. So far, about two inches of rain have fallen.

Residents can expect minor flooding along streams and rivers and some water on roadways or in areas with poor drainage. The Illinois Department of Transportation warned drivers to plan for extra travel time.
