Transitional Employment Program Students Share Creativity and Kindness with District Staff

Last Friday, students in the Transitional Employment Program (TEP) showcased their creativity, teamwork, and generosity by delivering handmade keychains and greeting cards to district staff members.

The students designed and produced keychains featuring school mascots and crafted uplifting cards filled with positive messages. Staff members were invited to purchase these items, and the project was a remarkable success — with students creating more than 100 keychains and over 200 greeting cards.

“This project is such a wonderful example of how creativity and kindness can come together to make a lasting impact,” said Christina Delrose, TEP Coordinator. “Our students not only shared joy across the district but also gained valuable hands-on experience in communication, design, and entrepreneurship.”

The Transitional Employment Program (TEP) provides students from Bremen, Hillcrest, Oak Forest, and Tinley Park High Schools with meaningful, hands-on employment experiences at South Suburban College. Under the guidance of dedicated TEP staff and job coaches, students develop practical job skills, teamwork, and independence through real-world learning opportunities. When not at their job sites, students participate in activities focused on professional development, communication, and problem-solving to prepare them for future employment success.

Through projects like this, TEP students continue to demonstrate how creativity, collaboration, and community connection foster both personal and professional growth.

Up next, TEP students are preparing to spread some holiday cheer with festive greeting cards and personalized keychains — just in time for the upcoming holiday season.
