'Hidden Fire' Causes Significant Damage To Oak Lawn Home

OAK LAWN, IL — A home in Oak Lawn suffered significant damage after a hidden fire broke out late Wednesday morning. Fire officials believe the blaze started inside the walls. No injuries were reported.
Around 11:45 a.m., Oak Lawn firefighters responded to a house fire near 103rd Street and Lamon Avenue. The walls and ceilings had to be opened up to extinguish the hidden fire and check for additional flame spread inside the walls, said Chief Mike McMillan, of the Oak Lawn Fire Department.
The home sustained significant water and smoke damage throughout. The occupants said they would be staying with family in the area. A full still was called for extra resources.
