Midlothian Man, 27, Dies In Crash At SW Highway And Cicero Avenue
Oak Lawn police said the vehicle that was struck slammed into a vacant oil change business in a crash that left a man dead early Tuesday.
OAK LAWN, IL — A 27-year-old Midlothian man was killed early Tuesday morning in a two-vehicle crash in Oak Lawn, police said. The man was identified by the Cook County Medical Examiner as Eglin Manuel Castro Alvarez.
Around 3 a.m., Oak Lawn police responded to a crash at Southwest Highway and Cicero Avenue. Police said a vehicle traveling southwest bound on Southwest Highway struck a vehicle traveling southbound on Cicero Avenue.
The striking vehicle came to rest on the southwest corner of the intersection after it hit another vehicle, pushing it into a vacant storefront, police said. The vehicle that was struck stopped when it pushed up against the vacant oil change business in the 4900 block of West Southwest Highway.

The occupants of both vehicles were rushed by Oak Lawn paramedics to Advocate Christ Medical Center, where Castro Alvarez was pronounced dead a few hours later at 6:15 a.m.
Oak Lawn police did not indicate who was driving the striking vehicle, only to say it was still an active investigation. Updates will be provided should new information become available.
