What To Know About Oak Lawn's New Waste Collector Flood Brothers

OAK LAWN, IL — The Village of Oak Lawn will have a new residential trash hauler. Effective Oct. 1, Flood Brothers Disposal Co. will provide weekly garbage, recycling and yard waste collection in the village.

This change resulted from a competitive bidding process and Flood Brothers’ bid was not only the lowest qualifying bid but also represents almost $500,000 in savings over the village’s previous contract.

Under the Flood Brothers contract:

• The quarterly rate for senior citizens and residents with qualified disabilities will be $58.65, a 13-percent decrease over the prior contract.
• The quarterly rate for all other residents will be $69, which is an almost 10-percent decrease.

Republic Services’ last pick-up day will be Tuesday, Sept. 30, and Flood Brothers will begin on Wednesday, Oct. 1.

Flood Brothers will continue to use the same daily schedule, although pick-up times may vary from the past. Please ensure that all carts are placed curbside by 6 a.m. on your scheduled collection day, but not before 5 p.m. the day before.

The village will administer billing (quarterly) for general waste hauling services. Additional carts and special collections will be billed directly by Flood Brothers Disposal.

Residents can continue to use their current waste carts; Flood Brothers will continue to collect these (up to a maximum of three carts) at no extra charge.

Customers who don’t currently have a yard waste cart can buy one from Flood Bros. for $27.50. Beginning Jan. 1, 2026, collection of new yard waste carts will be free for the first one, but $35 each annually for the next two, for a maximum of three yard waste carts per household.

Yard waste will be collected from April 1 through the end of the second week in December.

Flood Brothers will also pick up electronic waste for an extra fee of $30, up to ten items, but only one TV per pickup.

Collection of household hazardous waste for an extra fee of $7 per item, such as paint, pesticides, poison, cleaning solvents, oil, gasoline and other automotive fluids, etc.

Appliance and tire pickup are also offered, including refrigerators, air conditioners, dishwashers, water heaters, washers, dryers, etc. and $25 per tire.

Christmas trees will be collected during the first three weeks of January at no additional charge.
