OAK LAWN, IL — The winter break from school was not a time to rest for the Oak Lawn Community High School cheerleading team, it was a time to work hard, perform, and celebrate.

Both the varsity team and the junior varsity team competed in the Illinois Cheerleading Coaches Association Invitational on Dec. 21 at Wilmington High School, and both squads placed second. Their scores were high enough to qualify for the ICCA Championship to be held in Springfield, Ill. this weekend.

The ICCA Championships are the longest running championships in the state of Illinois, and the competition will take place at the Bank of Springfield Center in Springfield from Jan. 10-11.
