Oak Lawn Library Union Endorses Schwarzkopf, Weinert In Trustee Race

OAK LAWN, IL — AFSCME Council 31 Local 736 representing the staff of the Oak Lawn Public Library, has endorsed Raymond Schwarzkopf and Dave Weinert in the upcoming library board election. The consolidate election is April 1.

Both are among three candidates running for two open seats on the Oak Lawn Public Library Board of Trustees. Current trustees Pat O’Donnell and Sean Kelly are finishing out their six-year terms.

“We believe that Raymond and Dave will be responsible board members that can lead the library to provide even better service to the community,” Kate Donley said, president of Local 736. “The Oak Lawn library board election is important and everyone’s vote counts.”

Donley, who serves as programming librarian for the library, said on behalf of her fellow union members that Weinert and Schwarzkopf are both frequent users of the library, “which is a great perspective to bring to the board.”

The American Federation of State, City and Municipal Employees represents more than 90,000 active and retired employees of state, county and city governments, state universities, local school districts and nonprofit agencies across Illinois.
