OAK LAWN, IL — Oak Lawn police officers wrote a total of 249 citations during the statewide “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” enforcement campaign targeting impaired drivers from Dec. 13 through Jan. 2.

During the campaign, the Oak Lawn Police Department intensified its enforcement efforts, conducting local checkpoints and deploying additional patrol units to deter risky behaviors and catch offenders.

Dominating the enforcement actions were 204 seat belt violations. Oak Lawn police issued the following traffic citations:

  • 204 occupant restraint citations.
  • 5 child safety seat citations.
  • 1 other traffic arrest for suspended driver’s license.
  • 24 Speeding, distracted driving, other traffic citations.
  • 1 felony arrest for aggravated fleeing/eluding.
  • 1 felony arrest for possession with intent to deliver cannabis over 100 grams.
