South Suburban Queen Of Hearts Action Report, Week Of February 9

SOUTH SUBURBAN COOK COUNTY —The jackpots keep building as Her Majesty continues to shun south suburban queen of hearts raffles. We hear she's busy participating in a stag bellowing contest at St. Casimir Cemetery.

If you’re feeling lucky or crave action, Patch has compiled the progressive raffles for the week ahead, some with pretty sizable jackpots. Even if you split a few thousand bucks or pick up money on the board, it’s better than a sharp stick in the eye.

Here’s how the game works: The game consists of a deck of 52 shuffled playing cards plus the two jokers. Playing cards are randomly printed on the inside of each window, ensuring the integrity of the raffle. When a player’s ticket is drawn, the number written on it determines the card number to be opened. If the card drawn is the Queen of Hearts, the winner wins a percentage of the jackpot. The bigger the pot, the bigger the payoff. Some have money on the board.

Sunday

Oak Lawn Raiders SAC – The jackpot going into the Feb. 9 pull is $9,539 and building after a rollover last week. The drawing takes place at 3 p.m. Sundays at BJ McMahon’s, 5432 W. 95th St., Oak Lawn. Tickets are 6 for $5; 12 for $10; and 24 for $20 from the handy dandy ticket machine a BJ McMahon's during business hours. It’s a bar, so they’re open late. The split is 50-50 of the jackpot if the queen of hearts is found. Ticket sales start Monday and continue up until the drawing. There is money on the board: $50 for numbered cards (2-10); aces, kings and jacks and gets you $100; the queen of spades, aces or clubs pays out $200; and red and black jokers win ya $500 (black joker resets only the first board). Famous for carrying a 50-by-100-foot American flag in Oak Lawn’s Independence Day Parade, the Raiders help local individuals and families facing financial difficulties, and other civic projects. Results are posted Monday on the Oak Lawn Raiders website and Facebook page. Must be 21 to play.

Monday

Knights of Columbus, Fr. Boyle C.C. Council 4698 of Tinley Park started its Queen of Hearts raffle in December which takes place at 8 p.m. every Monday at the Union Bar & Grill, 17821 S. 80th Ave., Tinley Park. Tickets are $5 each or 5 for $20. If your name is drawn, you’ll win a $50 gift certificate to the Union, select a face card or ace win another $50 gift certificate, select a joker win a hundred dollars, select the Queen of Hearts win 50 percent of the pot. The pot going into the Jan. Feb. 10 pull is at $9,100 with 46 cards remaining on the board. Tickets are sold at the Union when Knights of Columbus are present from 5:30 to 8 p.m, Monday, Tuesday, Friday and other TBD dates/times. Proceeds go to the Knights' community projects. Tuesday

Pediatric Oncology Treasure Chest Foundation – The jackpot going into the Feb. 11 drawing is $16,687. The drawing takes place at 6:30 p.m. every Tuesday, at the Dakota Inn, 12119 S. Pulaski Road, Alsip. Pediatric Oncology Treasure Chest Foundation provides comfort and distraction from painful procedures to children and teens who have been diagnosed with cancer by providing toys and gift cards from a treasure chest.

Wednesday

Park Lawn Charity – Park Lawn’s Queen of Hearts raffle achieved legendary status when the jackpot climbed to $2.3 million in 2024. The regulars are going to try to drive the jackpot up again. The jackpot going into the Wednesday, Feb. 12 pull is $147,610 and climbing after it rolled over. If your number reveals the queen, 60 percent of the jackpot goes to the winner if present; if not present, the winner splits the pot 50-50 with Park Lawn. This time, there is money on the board: Jokers are $250 and the board resets; aces, $200; kings, $150; and queens (excluding hearts), $125; and jacks $100. Numbers cards (2-10) win 24 free tickets for next week’s drawing. Online ticket sales continue up to 3 p.m. Tuesday. Or, buy them in person at Park Lawn, 10833 S. Johnson-Phelps VFW Post 5220, Oak Lawn – The Queen of Hearts raffle is pulled every Wednesday at 8:30 p.m. during bingo intermission. Tickets are $1 each or 6 for $5. Select a face card or ace win $50; joker will get you $100; all other cards $20. Find the Queen of Hearts and win 50 percent of the pot. Tickets are sold at the VFW lounge (one of our favorite establishments) daily after 12 noon and at Wednesday bingo prior to the drawing. Results will be posted on Oak Lawn VFW (Johnson Phelps Post) Facebook page and VFW Auxiliary 5220 Oak Lawn Facebook page. The jackpot going into the Wednesday Feb. 12 pull is $8,490.

St. Patricia Parish – Yay! St. Patricia’s Queen of Hearts Raffle is back, baby! Buy tickets in person from the handy dandy ticket machine at Prime Time Restaurant, 7750 W. 95th St., Hickory Hills; before and after Sunday masses at the parish, 9050 S. 86th Avenue, Hickory Hills; and from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday at the St. Patricia rectory, 9050 S. 86th Avenue, Hickory Hills. The new jackpot is $1,000 so let’s juice it up for the Feb. 12 drawing. The drawing takes place at 6 p.m. Wednesdays, at Prime Time. Tickets are 6 for $5, 12 for $10; and 24 for $24. Players (except for the queen of hearts) win a $50 gift card to Prime Time. The parish will contact the winner. Check out Prime Time’s special happy hour menu.

Thursday

Burbank Titans Football and Cheerleading – The youth football and cheer team is running a Queen of Hearts Raffle (or their parents are) at 8:30 p.m. every Thursday at Chuck’s Southern Comfort Cafe, 6501 W. 79th St., Burbank. Tickets are 5 for $6, 12 for $10 and 24 for $20. The winning ticket (if not the queen of hearts) gets you $20; queens (except hearts) wins you $50; and any of the two jokers $100. Four of diamonds kills the board, but wins you $150. If the queen of hearts is found, the winner splits the jackpot 60/40; if not present, the split is 50/50. A joker was pulled Feb. 6 killing the board. The jackpot for the Feb. 13 pull is $3,450 and growing. Watch the drawing live on Titans Facebook (try to speak up and mention the jackpot).

Bank the Blue – The jackpot going into the Thursday, Feb. 13, drawing is $12,400+. There is money on the board: if present at the time of the drawing, the winner grabs $100 for numbered cards and $200 for face cards. Tickets are $1 each, 6 for $5; 12 for $10; 24 for $20. Online ticket sales reopen at 10 a.m. Friday and close at 2 p.m. Thursday, the day of the drawing. In each online purchase, the player will only be allowed to select a single number. The drawing takes place around 8 p.m. every Thursday at Harte’s Saloon, 9858 S. Artesian Ave., Evergreen Park. Catch the excitement of the live drawing on BTB Facebook. All proceeds go toward funding confidential mental health services for law enforcement officers in Illinois. Currently, Bank the Blue is serving 71 police officers. Must be 21 to play.

Marian Catholic High School Athletic Boosters – Her Majesty put in an appearance in the Jan. 23 drawing, so it’s a whole new game starting Feb. 13 with a jackpot of $10,600. The drawing happens at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at Rudy’s at Balagio’s, 17501 Dixie Highway, Homewood. Tickets are $5 and can be purchased in person at MCHS,700 Ashland Avenue; Chicago Heights (sales close at 3 p.m. Wednesday); from the machine in Balagio’s lobby (sales close 7:15 p.m. Thursday), and at Rudy’s up until the drawing. Online tickets must be purchased by 11 a.m. Wednesday. If the queen reveals herself, the winner splits with the athletic boosters 50/50. If any other card is revealed, the winning player will receive: $500 for jokers, $250 for an ice, and $100 for any other card. Queen of spades gets you $550 and resets the board. Proceeds go toward upgrades and improvements to Marian Catholic athletic facilities and equipment.
