515,000 Pounds Of Uninspected Pork Recalled by Illinois Company
A suburban company is recalling hundreds of thousands of pounds of raw pork produced and distributed in Illinois thanks to an anonymous tip.
ILLINOIS — A Maywood company is recalling 515,000 pounds of raw pork products due to lack of inspection. The pork, which was produced and distributed in Illinois, was recalled after an anonymous tip came in to the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS).
The products were produced by Morris Meat Packing between Nov. 25, 2017 and Nov. 9 of this year and include pork loin, pork back ribs and pork chops, and were shipped to retailers in Illinois. A full list of recalled items can be found here.
“The products subject to recall bear establishment number 'EST. 18267' inside the USDA mark of inspection. These items were shipped to distributors and retail locations in Illinois,” the US Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service said.

The recall was announced Tuesday after the federal agency received an anonymous tip the company was producing pork without inspecting it.
There have been no confirmed reports of illness due to the uninspected pork.

Federal authorities fear some recalled pork may still be in customers' freezers. Consumers who have purchased items affected by the recall should not eat them. Instead, throw them away or return them to the place of purchase.
