Armed Men Invade Oak Park Home: Police

A Forest Park man was shot when he tried to escape the June 25 home invasion.

Oak Park, IL — A man was shot June 25 after a home invasion and armed robbery in the 400 block of South Taylor Avenue.

The injured man, 25 of Forest Park, was visiting the house with several friends and acquaintances when three armed men knocked on the door, pointed guns at the person who answered and forced their way inside, according to Oak Park police.

The armed men announced a robbery and took items from the people in the house.

The Forest Park man crawled through a window and was shot as he tried to run by a fourth person, who stayed outside while the others went inside the house, police reported.

People in the basement heard the gunshots in the yard, and the armed men ran outside. Police were called around 2 a.m., and the Forest Park man was taken to Loyola Hospital in Maywood.
