Back-to-Back Assault, Armed Robbery Reported Monday in Oak Park

Two crimes reportedly took place within minutes of each other the morning of Jan. 25 on S. Austin Boulevard.

Two reported incidents, each involving a man with a handgun, took place within minutes of each other in the early morning hours of Jan. 25 on the same street Oak Park.

Around 2:05 a.m., a man with a black handgun approached a person in the 500 block of S. Austin Boulevard, according to Oak Park police. The person ran away when the man showed the gun.

The man in this incident is described as in his early 20s with a skinny build, about 5 feet 7 inches tall, wearing a black hoodie and a white T-shirt, dark jeans and a black skull cap, police reported.

Around 2:13 a.m., police report a man put a black handgun into a person’s right side and demanded valuables in the 300 block of South Austin Boulevard. The person handed over $24 cash, cigarettes and a red lighter.

This man is described as in his 20s with a medium build, 5 feet 11 inches tall, with facial hair and braided hair under a black skull cap, police reported. Police say he was wearing a dark jacket with a red collar, red, white and blue sleeves and a shark logo, blue jeans and gray Air Jordan-type shoes.
