1. About 82 percent of Oak Park residents have received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, according to a village press release. More than 70 percent of the population is now fully-vaccinated. (VOP)
2. A survey about how Oak Park should spend its American Rescue Plan funds yielded only about 200 responses. Trustees say they need more community feedback before they can determine how to distribute the $38 million. (Wednesday Journal)
3. A 23-year-old Forest Park resident was arrested for drug possession after fleeing from police at a traffic stop on Madison Street. He was carrying a pouch filled with Xanax, cocaine and ecstasy.(Forest Park Review)
4. Barnard’s Schwinn Cyclery is once again welcoming customers after the store was struck by a vehicle Nov. 11, causing significant damage to its exterior. “There have been a lot of generations coming through Barnard’s for years,” co-owner Jeff Hajduk said of the 110-year old business. “They have shown concern and we appreciate all their support and being part of our family.” (Paid source: Oak Leaves)
5. More details are emerging in the pepper spray incident that placed Elm Middle School on lockdown this week. Four students were sent to the hospital Thursday with minor injuries after a student accidentally discharged the pepper spray in the classroom.
