1. A Gwendolyn Brooks Middle School student was struck by a vehicle while walking to school Monday morning near Washington Boulevard and Home Avenue. The child, whose parent was present, refused medical treatment and appeared to be in good condition, a village spokesperson said. (Wednesday Journal)

2. A pedestrian on Roosevelt Road was struck in the face by four paint balls fired from a passing vehicle, according to the latest Oak Park Police Department crime report. The incident occurred last weekend in the 6700 block of Roosevelt. (VOP)

3. Oak Park native Iman Shumpert won the "Dancing with the Stars" mirrorball trophy Monday night. The OPRF High School graduate is the first NBA player ever to make it to the show's finale. He and his pro partner Daniella Karagach earned an 80/80 for their final two performances. (ET)

4. The Fenwick High School’s boys cross country team won the Class 2A state championship last week in Peoria. ā€œIt’s the team’s first state title and the first in boys cross country in the storied history of the Chicago Catholic League,ā€ the Pioneer Press reports. (Paid source: Oak Leaves)

5. Oak Park River Forest High School held a signing day ceremony this week for its senior athletes committing to play sports at universities next fall. Seven students signed letters of intent to play on campuses in Denver, New Orleans, Seattle and more. (Wednesday Journal)
