1. COVID-19 cases in Oak Park continue to affect residents of vastly varying ages. The health department reported 48 new cases in the village this week, affecting residents from as young as 5 years old to people in their 60s. (VOP)

2. Cook County is offering rental assistance to eligible citizens who apply by Oct. 29. Local organizations Housing Forward and the Oak Park Regional Housing Center are also offering relief for renters impacted by the pandemic. (Wednesday Journal)

3. The Park District of Oak Park is committing to “minority business goals” with construction of the Community Recreation Center. The district will require that 25 percent of the project is completed by minority-owned and women-owned certified businesses. (Patch)

4. Forest Park-based Ferrara Candy Company is experiencing manufacturing delays this month due to a ransomware attack. The company assures customers "Ferrara’s Halloween products are on shelves at retailers across the country” despite the incident. (Forest Park Review)

5. River Forest’s Historic Preservation Commission hopes to change the development process for historically significant properties in the village. A public meeting will be held Nov. 5 to examine changing the maximum demolition delay from six months to 12 months. (VRF)
