Cicero, IL - Charges have been filed against a Cicero man accused of hitting a woman and a young girl with his car and leaving the scene March 13 at 5500 W. Cermak Road.

Eduardo Gonzalez, 39, of the 3600 block of S. 53rd Avenue in Cicero, was arrested March 18 and charged with two felony counts of leaving the scene of a crash with injuries, according to Cicero spokesman Ray Hanania.

The crash happened when the woman and the girl started to cross Cermak Road. A car stopped to let them cross, but another car gunned the engine and sped up to pass the cars, hitting the two people as they were crossing, Hanania reported.

Police say the driver didn't hesitate to speed away after the collision. Both pedestrians were treated and released from Mount Sinai Hospital.

The car involved in the crash was described as a silver, four-door family vehicle that was damaged on its front right and right side, Hanania reported. The car was missing the right headlight and the passenger side mirror, which police found at the crash site.
