Couple's Home Explodes During Wedding Ceremony, 1 Found Dead: Reports
The home was not insured, as the bride had recently taken over ownership from her mother and was in the process of transferring coverage.
CICERO, IL — A newlywed couple are beginning their life together in the midst of a tragedy after their Cicero home exploded during their wedding ceremony, leaving one person dead, according to reports.
Tom Davis and Eleni Vrettos were celebrating their wedding when Vrettos’ childhood home went up in flames, causing the couple to lose all their belongings as well as six beloved cats, according to a GoFundMe page started to support the couple, which had raised over $42,000 as of early Tuesday evening.
“I ran here in my wedding dress, like down the alley, and was watching from a neighbor’s yard,” Vrettos told WGN, which reported everyone who lived in the home was at the ceremony during the explosion just before 5 p.m. Saturday.

The remains of an unidentified person were found on scene, according to WGN.
Vrettos and her brother had recently taken over ownership of the home from their mother, and it was not insured when the fire happened because they were in the process of transferring coverage, WGN reported.

A neighboring building also caught fire, displacing 11 families, according to WLS.
