A Day In Our Village Virtual Celebration: Participation Ideas

Oak Park officials said all organizations, businesses that signed up for the June 7 in-person event are invited to participate virtually.

OAK PARK, IL — The Village of Oak Park announced the annual A Day in Our Village celebration will be held virtually, as the in-person event originally scheduled for June 7 was cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic. According to Village officials, A Day in Our Village, first held in 1973, typically draws thousands of people to Scoville Park on the first Sunday in June, but this year’s event will play out on mobile devices and computer screens instead due to restrictions prohibiting large groups from gathering.

According to a news release from the Village, all of the organizations and businesses that signed up for this year’s physical event are invited to participate virtually. Virtual participation includes posting information about their connection to the community and the services they provide on social media using the hashtag #VirtualDayInOurVillage, according to the Village.

Residents are also invited to share their community pride on June 28 through chalk drawings, photos, favorite memories and other messages that illustrate what they love most about Oak Park, officials said, in the news release.
