1. A driver was nearly carjacked at knife-point early Sunday morning in the 700 block of Lyman Avenue. According to a police report, one offender punched the victim while the other threatened him with a knife, saying he had a gun. They ultimately fled with the driver’s wallet. (OPPD)
2. The Chicago Transit Authority is deploying its K-9 security teams this week to “beef up” safety efforts on trains and platforms. The news comes days after a 29-year-old was shot and killed on the Red Line, and another person was pushed off a Blue Line platform on the West Side. (NBC)
3. Dominican University will welcome its largest freshman class in history this fall, the school reported this week. More than 630 incoming students have registered for the semester, breaking the previous record of 495 freshmen in 2016. (Wednesday Journal)
