Football: OPRF Beats Lyons, 31-26

The 31-26 loss Saturday dealt a blow to the Lions' playoff chances.

Oak Park-River Forest quarterback Lloyd Yates ran for 170 yards and passed for 99 Saturday in a 31-26 win over Lyons Township in Western Springs, according to HighSchoolCube News.

Lyons Township trailed 24-6 early, but cut the Huskies lead to 24-19, HighSchoolCube reports. The two teams traded touchdowns in the game's final six minutes, and a failed Lions onside kick attempt sealed the game late.

The loss dropped the Lions to 3-4 overall and 2-2 in the West Suburban Silver, making their final two games against York and Proviso West virtual must-wins in order for LT to make the playoffs.

The playoffs appear to be a certainty for OPRF, which has a 6-1 record entering their final two games.
