Here are the top 3 stories today in Oak Park-River Forest:

1. About 90 percent of Oak Park’s population has received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, the village health department announced this week. Second boosters are expected to be available in the fall for vaccinated people younger than 50, according to NPR. (VOP)

2. Oak Park Public Health Director Theresa Chapple-McGruder said monkeypox “really should not be a concern for the community at this time.” The village’s first presumptive case was reported earlier this week. “We’ve made it almost to August before having our first case, so that is pretty much indicative of how it’s not spreading as easily as COVID,” she told Wednesday Journal. (Wednesday Journal)

3. River Forest Village President Cathy Adduci will be the featured speaker tomorrow on Southern Illinois University’s “Meet the Mayor” series. The free virtual event is open to the public. (SIU)
