1. Former public school teacher and literary leader Shyla Kinhal was sworn in this week to serve on the Oak Park District 97 School Board. There were six applicants for the role to replace Jeremy Duffy, who resigned to take a position at the Illinois State Board of Education. (Wednesday Journal)

2. Resident registration opens today for Oak Park holiday events this December. Locals can register on the park district website at 8:30 a.m. Events include Cookies with Santa, the Cheney Mansion Holiday Open House, Holidays Around the World and the Santa Trolley. 3. The River Forest Village Board will consider implementing a sewer repair subsidy program next month. The program would potentially offer homeowners reimbursement of 50 percent of their sewer repair costs. (Wednesday Journal)
