'Inspiring' IL Mom Graduates College Despite 'Immense Challenges'

My mom is an extraordinary person. When she realized she wouldn’t be able to help me financially through college, she took a brave step.
At 36, she enrolled in college herself in 2020, determined to create a better future for our family. In 2023, just five classes short of graduation, she was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer.
Despite the devastating news, she never gave up. She endured six months of grueling chemotherapy, two surgeries, radiation, and another round of chemo.
Through it all, she continued her classes, worked an internship, and graduated with top honors and a perfect 4.0 GPA.
Her unwavering strength and determination to provide a better life for me and my siblings fill me with immense pride. She is my hero, and her journey inspires me every day.
What's one thing you want everyone to know about your graduating student nominee?
One thing everyone should know about my mom is her incredible resilience and unwavering spirit.
She has faced immense challenges with grace and strength, always putting her family first. Her determination to better herself and provide a brighter future for us is truly inspiring.
She embodies courage, kindness, and perseverance, and I am endlessly proud to call her my mom.
