Oak Park, IL - Earlier this week, Rep. Camille Lilly, D-Chicago, spoke with residents at George’s Family Restaurant in Oak Park to get their feedback on the state of the state and local issues important to them.
“It really is a pleasure having the chance to meet people at local cafés and businesses, because these places offer a more relaxed setting to discuss any topic,” said Lilly. “Supporting local businesses is always a good idea to stimulate jobs and our local economy, especially during these tough times in Illinois.”

Since the beginning of the year, Lilly has been touring local cafés and restaurants in the district to meet with local residents and provide updates on the budget impasse, Chicago’s elected school board proposal and new legislation introduced in Springfield. The Chicago Democrat also spent time listening to residents’ concerns about state and local issues, encouraging them to speak up so she can better advocate for them in Springfield.
“It’s so important that all residents have an opportunity to have their voices heard and take part in the democratic process. Whether it’s at a coffee shop or someone’s home, I want to bring government directly to the doorstep of the community,” Lilly said. “We are still without a budget, and I heard a lot of frustration at George’s about the governor’s refusal to compromise. I share that frustration with them and I promised to protect those essential services that many families rely on.”
