Man Struck, Killed By Metra UP-W Train Sunday Night

The man's identity is still not known. Metra officials said he was trespassing in the area.

OAK PARK, IL — A man is dead after being struck by a Metra train late Sunday night, according to officials from Metra.

Police responded to a call of a man hit by a Union Pacific West Line train at around 11 p.m. on the tracks between Kedzie Avenue and Oak Park stations. A spokeswoman said the man was pronounced dead at the scene and was trespassing in the area.

The train was stopped on the tracks for about three hours before it could be released towards Elburn. The man's identity had not been released as of Monday afternoon, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's office.
