1. A Maywood man was shot by police Wednesday after pointing a BB gun at officers inside a Lawndale station. Terrick Bland faces aggravated assault charges for brandishing the weapon and “shouting anti-police sentiments.” He was shot in the arm and taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. (FOX)
2. A new Chief Communications Officer is joining the Village of Oak Park. Dan Yopchick officially steps into the role tomorrow, using “his strategic communications experience to ensure our Village is engaged with all members of our community,” Village Manager Kevin Jackson said in a press release. 3. The deadline is approaching to submit nominees for several community awards. The Village of Oak Park will accept nominations for Cavalcade of Pride, Historic Preservation and Sustainability awards until Oct. 15. (VOP)
