1. The state of Illinois could begin vaccinating children as soon as November, NBC News reports. The Biden administration reportedly told Gov. J.B. Pritzker to prepare to vaccinate children five and older “should the FDA clear Pfizer's COVID-19 vaccine for that age group in coming weeks.” (NBC5)

2. Oak Park resident Alberto Friedmann will return to court Oct. 29, facing hate crime charges from an incident outside Jewel-Osco on Madison Street. It is the second reported racially-motivated hate crime to occur outside area grocery stores in two years. (Wednesday Journal)

3. The Village Board voted this week to allow accessory dwelling units in Oak Park. Separate living spaces will be allowed as long as they are standalone structures, which means they cannot be created in basements or attics. (Paid source: Oak Leaves)

4. A newly-renovated gymnasium was unveiled at St. Catherine-St. Lucy School last week. The $200,000 project was made possible by Fenwick High School and other generous donors.
