1. A professor charged with a hate crime committed outside an Oak Park jewel has resigned from his job. Alberto Friedmann tendered his resignation Friday from Lombard's National University of Health Sciences. He faces felony charges of aggravated assault and committing a hate crime.(NBC5)
2. The Illinois Department of Public Health announced Monday that booster shots are recommended for certain populations, in accordance with CDC guidelines. Groups eligible for a booster includes people 65 years and older, residents in long-term care settings and people aged 50–64 years with underlying medical conditions. (Patch)

3. Illinois Senate President Don Harmon of Oak Park is speaking out about the Texas abortion ban. He told the Sun-Times “we have taken affirmative steps to make sure that no matter what happens in the Supreme Court, a woman’s right to a comprehensive suite of reproductive health care services is available here in Illinois.” (Paid source: Sun-Times)
4. Oak Park officials are seeking community feedback on the hiring of a new Village Manager. The deadline to complete the online survey was yesterday, but residents will still have the opportunity to weigh in on the search at an in-person forum Oct. 9 or virtual forum Oct. 12. (VOP)
