Oak Park Police to Conduct Halloween Traffic Enforcement
Police are warning drivers to "keep the party off the road this Halloween."

Oak Park police will be cracking down on impaired driving on Halloween, Oct. 31, with an aggressive Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over enforcement effort.
Police are warning drivers to “keep the party off the road this Halloween,” according to a news release.
“Driving while impaired by alcohol or drugs is deadly, illegal and will get you pulled over and arrested in Oak Park,” said Deputy Police Chief Tony Ambrose in a statement. “If you want to stay safe and out of jail this Halloween, make a plan to get home without driving if you’re impaired.”

Drunken drivers were involved in 43 percent of all crashes that killed people on Halloween nights from 2009 to 2013 nationally, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
Nineteen percent of fatal pedestrian crashes on Halloweens during that period also involved drunken drivers.
