Oak Park Woman Says Disability Laws Protect Her Right to Rent Her Condo
The 94-year-old woman wants to use rent money to pay for medical expenses.

Oak Park, IL - An elderly Oak Park woman has filed a complaint against the condo association that owns her building because they won’t let her rent out her condo while she recovers at a rehab facility from a 2014 fall.
Lillian Vignola, 94, says 151 North Kenilworth Condominium Association’s rules against her renting her condo violate her rights under disability laws and federal fair housing laws, according to the Cook County Record.
Vignola would like to use money from the rental to help pay for her medical expenses, the record reports, but the condo association says it has a rule that condo owners can’t rent a unit until it’s been listed for sale for a year.
