1. Police will be patrolling at local schools today "in light of a circulating TikTok post referencing a shooting in all U.S. schools," NBC reports. OPRF High School said there is currently no credible threat but prepared police protection "out of an abundance of caution." (NBC)

2. A 74-year-old woman was rescued from the Des Plaines River in Forest Park Thursday after she lost control of her car on Roosevelt Road. Police swam into the water to pull her from her car, and she was sent to the hospital in good condition. "In 25 years, I've never done a water rescue like this," said Officer Pete Morrissette. (ABC)

3. More than 30 tenants of a Cicero apartment building were displaced by a massive fire Wednesday morning. “It is a miracle that there are no injuries and no fatalities in this fire,” Cicero Fire Chief Mike Piekarski said. Several sought shelter with family or friends, while more than 20 individuals are being sheltered at the Cicero Stadium. (Suburban)

4. Oak Park officials broke ground on the new Pete's Fresh Market location this week. The 46,000 square-foot store at 640 Madison St. is expected to open in late 2022. (VOP)
