Police Investigate July 4 Shooting at Oak Park Gas Station

A Chicago man was shot several times in the early morning of July 4.

Oak Park, IL — A Chicago man was shot multiple times early Monday morning at a gas station in Oak Park.

The 20-year-old's injuries are non-life threatening, according to the village of Oak Park.

Police believe the shooter followed the man from Chicago to the parking lot of the Shell gas station at 401 W. Madison St.

The man told police he walked to the station's locked doors to pay cash for gas. As he waited for the attendant to come to the service window, someone came up to him and fired several shots around 1:42 a.m., according to the village.

He was taken to Loyola Medical Center in Maywood, and he is expected to have surgery.
