1. The Oak Park Village Board voted to approve $322,600 in expenditures to renovate the police department in 2022. Village President Vicki Scaman said no official plans have been made and “no schematics for the project would be developed until after the village has engaged the public in community safety conversations.” (Wednesday Journal)
2. Oak Park is listed among the Senate Appropriations Committee’s “Illinois priorities” for the next fiscal year. A press release from Sen. Dick Durbin's office said $200,000 will go to the Village to implement safety recommendations to revitalize the North Avenue corridor. (Sen. Durbin’s Office)
3. Tomorrow is National Rx Take-Back Day. Residents can safely dispose of unwanted and expired prescription drugs at an Oak Park Township event Saturday at 105 S. Oak Park Ave. (Township)
4. St. Luke’s School celebrated 100 years of Catholic education in Oak Park over the weekend. About 275 people attended the centennial celebration Saturday. (Wednesday Journal)
5. Oak Park attorney Stephanie Harris launched an online domestic abuse survivor group in the wake of Gabby Petito’s disappearance and death. Harris’ “Justice For Gabby” group offers resources for survivors and answers their legal questions. (BuzzFeed News)
