I-290 Reopened After Reports of Shots Fired
Eisenhower Expressway seeing major delays during evening commute after police comb the roadway in response to a shooting.

The outbound Eisenhower Expressway is experiencing major delays this evening as State Police shut down traffic near 25th Avenue to investigate reports of a shooting. Officers have been walking up and down I-290 after police were told that shots were fired on I-290.
The Chicago Sun-Times is reporting that a vehicle’s window was shot out in Bellwood near 25th Avenue. As of 6:30 p.m. the lanes were reopened.

In recent months, a handful of expressway shootings have been reported.
- on June 12, three people were shot on the Dan Ryan Expressway shortly after 1 a.m. in a road-rage incident
- on June 8, a man in his 20s was shot on the Dan Ryan at 3 a.m. near 31st Street
- a 1:30 a.m. shooting on Lake Shore Drive on June 10 in which the victim said he did not know the shooter
- on May 21, an argument in downtown Chicago led to a shooting on the Bishop Ford Expressway, forcing State Police to shut down the highway for hours during the morning commute.
