River Forest Police Reports: Car Damage, Theft, Trespass, DUI
River Forest police reported incidents from Jan. 22 to 28.

At 9:50 a.m. Jan. 22, officers responded to the 1400 block of Keystone for damage done to a vehicle. The victim said someone made seven separate scratches on her driver’s side and passenger side doors. No witnesses or security video could be located. The repair costs for the damage had not yet been determined.
At 8:20 p.m. Jan. 22, officers responded to Dominican University, 7900 W. Division, for reports of criminal damage to a vehicle. The victim said someone shattered the rear window on his car. The car was parked on the campus east-lot and no loss from inside the car was noted. Detectives are working with school security to review video footage.

At 6:11 p.m. Jan. 23, officers were dispatched to Jewel Foods, 7525 W. Lake, for reports of a retail theft in progress. The offender had put $108 worth of liquor, food and feminine products into a backpack and left the store without paying. The subject, Daniel T. Davis, 33 of Chicago, was arrested and taken to the station. The Cook County State’s Attorney’s Felony Review Unit was contacted and Felony Retail Theft charges were approved due to Davis having a previous 2011 conviction for Retail Theft. Davis was processed and has a February court date.
At 7:43 a.m. Jan. 24, officers were dispatched to Starbucks, 7201 W. Lake, for a criminal trespass to property. Officers found Damion Fisher, 37 of Forest Park, at the scene and took him into custody. Damion had caused a disturbance in Starbucks and refused to leave after being asked several times by management. Damion was taken to the station and charged with criminal trespass to property.

At 1:06 a.m. Jan. 25, an officer saw a speeding car on the 1200 block of Harlem. Radar verified the car was going 65 mph in a 30 mph zone. A traffic stop was conducted, and the driver showed signs of intoxication. The driver, Gladys R. Gonzalez, 25 of Chicago, did not a have a valid driver’s license or proof of insurance. Gonzalez failed field sobriety tests and was taken into custody. At the station, a Breathalyzer test revealed that Gonzalez’s BAC was .195, which is double the legal limit of .08. The Cook County State’s Attorney’s Felony Review Unit was contacted and approved aggravated DUI, DUI, aggravated speeding, no dl, no insurance,and several other traffic violations.
At 10:15 a.m. Jan. 27, an officer responded to Concordia University, 7400 Augusta-Brohn Hall, for reports of a theft of wallet and keys. The victim related that the items were taken from her purse while she was using the restroom earlier in the morning. The loss was 50 cash and credit cards. One of the victim’s credit cards had been used to make online purchases. The Detective Unit is working with school security and the credit card company in an attempt to identify the offender.
