River Forest Police Reports: DUI, Garage Burglary

River Forest police reported incidents from Feb. 24 to March 1.

At 5:39 p.m. Feb. 28, an officer saw a car on the 1000 block of Thatcher that appeared to have been involved in an accident. The driver, Mary E. Wright, 65 of Schaumburg, showed signs of intoxication. Wright’s car had swerved and struck a parked car. Wright failed field sobriety tests at the scene and was taken into custody. At the station, a Breathalyzer test revealed that Wright’s BAC was .242, which is three times over the legal limit of .08. Wright was charged with DUI, DUI over .08, failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident, and several other traffic violations.

At 8:04 p.m. Feb. 28, an officer was sent to the police department lobby for reports of two bikes being stolen from an unlocked garage on the 600 block of William. The victim reported he saw a male juvenile near his garage 20 minutes earlier with a bike and tried to follow him but lost sight of him near Quick and William. The total loss was estimated at $600.
