River Forest Police Reports: Resisting Arrest, Wallet Theft, Retail Theft

River Forest police reported incidents from March 9 to 16.

At 10:14 a.m. March 10, an officer was sent to a business in the 7300 block of W. North Ave. for reports of a wallet theft. The victim related sometime during the past week, her wallet was taken from her purse. The purse had been left in an unsecured office area. Credit cards and identification were lost.

At 1:15 p.m. March 10, an officer saw a man pull an unopened bottle of Ketel One Vodka out the garbage can in front of Walgreens, 7251 W. Lake St. The officer conducted a field interview, and additional bottles of liquor were found. The man had stolen two bottles of Ketel One Vodka from the Jewel, located at 7525 W. Lake, and two bottles of Jameson Whiskey from the Walgreens. Cory Froio, 20 of Downers Grove, was taken into custody and transported to the station. Due to Froio having a previous conviction for burglary, the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Felony Review Unit approved felony retail theft.

At 10:48 a.m. March 15, an officer saw a car commit several traffic violations on the 7900 block of North Avenue. A traffic stop was conducted, and a strong smell of burnt cannabis came from inside the car. An additional officer arrived on scene to help. Officers saw a small child in a car seat in the back of the car. The driver was asked to get out of the car. During the course of the investigation, the driver refused to cooperate with officers and ran back to the car. Once in the car, she began to reach around the back seat area. She kicked and hit officers and was wrestled from the car and taken into custody. Antrice M. Finch, 26 of Schiller Park, was taken to the station. The child was turned over to a family member. Officers received minor injuries during the arrest. The Cook County State’s Attorney’s Felony Review Unit was contacted and two counts of aggravated battery to a police officer, two counts of aggravated resisting arrest, misdemeanor obstructing and several traffic violations were approved.
