River Forest Police Reports: Retail Theft, Car Damage, Warrant Arrest
River Forest police reported incidents from May 22 to June 1.

The following information is courtesy of the River Forest Police Department.
At 11:39 a.m. May 22, officers were dispatched to 7525 W. Lake St., Jewel Foods, for a retail theft in progress. The offender was last seen running westbound on Lake Street. Officers checking the immediate area found a book bag that contained four bottles of Ciroc vodka. The value of the merchandise was determined to be $142. The merchandise was returned to the store manager.
At 12:04 a.m. May 25, an officer saw a car commit a traffic violation in the area of North Avenue and Thatcher. A traffic stop was conducted and a strong odor of cannabis came from inside the car. A computer check revealed the driver, Valerie Quintana, 44 of Melrose Park, had an active arrest warrant for theft from the Cook County Sheriff’s Department. Quintana was taken into custody and subsequently turned over to the Cook County Sheriff’s Department.

At 2:15 p.m. May 25, officers were sent to a disturbance in front of 7245 W. Lake St., Whole Foods Market. The offender was found and a computer check revealed Lamont Jackson, 28 of Oak Park, had an active arrest warrant for unlawful use of a weapon from the Berwyn Police Department. Jackson was taken into custody and subsequently turned over to the Berwyn Police Department.
At 2:23 p.m. May 26, an officer responded to the 7200 block of Oak for damage to a 2007 BMW 530i. The victim said someone damaged the hood of his car and removed the BMW logo.

At 12:01 a.m. May 27, officers responded to the 1500 block of Forest for a suspicious car occupied with five people and emitting smoke. Upon arrival, officers smelled a strong odor of cannabis coming from within the car. A small amount of marijuana was located and destroyed at the scene. A computer check revealed one of the occupants, Danzel A. McConnell, 20 of Oak Park, had an active arrest warrant for disorderly conduct from the Cook County Sheriff’s Department. McConnell was taken into custody and turned over to Cook County Sheriff’s officers.
At 9:34 a.m. May 27, officers responded to 7525 W. Lake St., Jewel Foods, for a retail theft in progress. The subject removed two of Grey Goose vodka bottles from his backpack after being confronted by store employees. Officers detained the subject on Lake Street. The offender admitted to being the store but said he did not follow through with the theft of liquor. Further investigation revealed Eric T. Nellem, 34 of Chicago, was in possession of two glass pipes with white residue, which are commonly used to ingest illegal narcotics. Nellem was taken into custody and charged with possession of drug paraphernalia.
At 5:59 p.m. May 31, officers responded to 7525 W. Lake St., Jewel Foods, for a retail theft in progress. Two subjects were detained outside of the store after having stolen $534 worth of food, liquor and other merchandise from the store. Robert M. Tario, 35 of Chicago, and Quasshia Fields, 39 of Chicago, were taken into custody and charged with retail theft.
